Makes Sure That Hotels Can't Deny You Water And Washroom Facility Even Now



• The Sarais Act or the 1867 act was made  to regulate Puraos or halting places and public Sarais or buildings used in the Mofussil for the shelter and accommodation of travellers.

• Sarai means any building that used for the shelter and for accomodation of travellers.


Colonialism has given us "a plethora of laws but by independence of our nation , our country had chose to implement our own constitution. However, you would be surprised to know over 300 archaic, colonial-era enactments are still in force including the Indian Penal Code 1860,
Code of Criminal Procedure 1898, Indian Contract Act 1872, Code of Civil Procedure 1908 etc. one among such acts is lesser-known the Sarais Act, 1867.

According this act, you can use the washroom of any hotel and request free water including a five-star hotel.

No can denied free water and use of washroom 

Breaking this rule can cause Rs 20 fine as per section 14 of the act.
